Douglas "Doug" Mulaney is a police officer in Haddonfield, Illinois and the ex-boyfriend of Allyson Nelson.
Doug and Allyson dated for some time, before Allyson broke it off. Doug would not let go and was persistent in his pursuits to talk to her.
One night, while drunk at a diner with his friends, Doug sees Allyson and goes over to her to talk. He tells her that she owes him a phone call and asks her if he did something wrong. Allyson tells him that she does owe him a call, but she is with Corey Cunningham. Doug then tells her that it is Joe Grillo's birthday and that they are welcomed to have a slice of cake. His words begin to frustrate Corey, and Allyson declines his offer. Doug keeps insisting, calls Corey "Mr. Aggravated Manslaughter" and goes on to ask if she calls him at night when she cannot sleep, and if she feels safe with him when she sees the boogeyman in her nightmares. His words causes Corey to stand up and confront him, until he leaves them alone.

Later, he is lured to the sewers by Corey. There, he is assaulted by him, who holds him in place while Michael Myers slits his throat and stabs him to death.
