Tony Moran portrayed the role of Michael Myers in Halloween for the unmasking scene, thus making him the face of Michael Myers. He got the role because producer Debra Hill felt that he looked angelic and innocent and that when the mask came off, John Carpenter, also agreeing that Nick didn't have that beauty the way Tony did, and so Michael was to look exposed and scared as he was using this mask with a blank expression to cover his true emotions and appear emotionless, his true face being able to betray his feelings.

In 2016, at a Horror Convention known as Mad Monster Party 2016 did an interview where he states, in his own words, that he was the one to do the stunt for the balcony scene, with the following question from the editor:

Editor: Did you have to do many takes? with Tony Moran replying with:

“No, I think it was two takes. That was it. Even with my stunt that I did, it was two takes. John Carpenter says, ‘Thank you very much’, and I said, ‘I get shot, don’t I?’ He says, ‘Yeah, but we’ll bring in a stunt guy to do that.’ I said, ‘No, I can do that’. I'm a born athlete. He said, ‘You’d do that?’ I'm like, ‘Sure, I’ll do that. No problem, man.’ Getting shot by Donald Pleasence, are you kidding me, I'll do that in a heartbeat. So I did it."[1] With these words, it sounds like Jim Winburn did not really do the stunt himself; this is currently unconfirmed.

“If you watch the movie, you can see – objectively, not egotistically – I fly myself back, there were no wires attached to me or anything, I mean, I did good, but anyway.”

He was offered to return to the role in 1981 for Halloween 2, but turned it down. In 2018, he reprised his role as Myers for a fan film, Halloween: The Night Evil Died.
