Kelly O'Rourke (also going by Kelly Reno for her other work) is a writer who, in the late 1990s, wrote three Halloween novels. They were loosely connected to the films via Michael Myers' appearance, and refer to the events of Halloween and Halloween 4.
The first book, The Scream Factory, was published on October 1, 1997. In it, a group of friends are setting up a Halloween attraction in the basement of Haddonfield City Hall, only to run afoul of Michael Myers. The novel directly references the events of Halloweens I and 4, accurately stating the number of deaths Michael caused during the events of the first film, but seemingly ignoring the additional number of deaths that occurred in the second film during the same night. Michael's sibling relationship with Laurie, which was first revealed in Halloween II and later played a role in the events of Halloween 4, is mentioned, yet strangely there is no direct reference to Michael's actions during Halloween II, referencing only his killings in the first film that happened on the same night.
The second book, The Old Myers Place, was published on December 1, 1997. In it, a new family moves into the Myers residence and the daughter starts making friends. Expectedly, Michael comes home and starts to stalk them.
The third and final book, The Mad House, was published on February 1, 1998. In it, a group of people, in order to make a documentary, must stay overnight in Smith's Grove Sanitarium, where Michael was incarcerated for fifteen years. He predictably returns to start killing them.
