Mary Mackenzie is a character that is mentioned in Halloween and appears in the Halloween: 30 Years of Terror story "Trick or Treat", in which she serves as the protagonist.
Biography[]
Mary Mackenzie was the wife of Joe Mackenzie, the couple loved each other very much yet had no children as Mary was unable to give birth to a child. The couple never opened the door on Halloween as they never felt the need to celebrate the holiday. In October 1978, Joe Mackenzie was complaining to his wife about how depraved things were on television and how kids enjoyed that kind of stuff. At that moment, there was a loud knock at the door. Mary answered, and it was Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace, who were screaming that the bogeyman was at Tommy's house and that he was going to kill his babysitter, Laurie Strode . Mary asked her husband what to do, and he told her to call Ruby at the sheriff's department while he tried to calm down the kids and get them to explain in detail what had happened. While she was explaining what was happening on the phone, Mary heard gunshots from outside and relayed to the police what Tommy had told her. Unbeknownst to Mary, the Bogeyman was outside her window as she made the call.
Eventually, things went back to normal for Mary and her husband, although they made sure to always open the door - especially on Halloween as they never wanted to see a terrified children's face again. Joe died as the years went on but Mary continued to open the door to trick-or-treaters and, on one night, while Mary was distracted, Michael Myers placed razor blades in the candy. When one of the children's mouth started to bleed, another child pointed to Michael sitting in Joe's chair. Mary looked back at the candy and realized what he had done but once she turned to see if he was still there, Michael had vanished.
